Rodriguez’s ‘Kingmaker’ book finds strong support from Thomasians

NOTABLE alumnus of the University of Sto Tomas have expressed support for the wide distribution of “Kingmaker: The Hardcopy,” the Book that narrated the inside story how lawyer Vic Rodriguez, the erstwhile executive secretary of President Marcos, engineered Marcos’ victory in the May 2022 elections.

Rodriguez is a UST-Faculty of Civil Law alumnus.

Rodriguez and the book author Gerry Lirio led the launching of the book at a simple, by-invitation ceremony Joy-Nostalg Hotel & Suites in Ortigas CBD.

Among the special guests were Fr. Richard G. Ang, Rector Magnificus of the University of Sto. Tomas, and another UST law alumnus, lawyer Richard Palpa-latoc, chair of the Commission on Human Rights, and some military generals. They all gave a good review of the book.

Ang led the opening prayer and the blessing of the food. Several leading UST law graduates have bought books in bulk.

Rodriguez was Marcos’ spokesman in his electoral protest in the May 2016 election, his chief campaign strategist and spokesman in the May 2022 presidential campaign. He defended Marcos in the bar of public opinion in the face of all the allegations against the Marcoses during the 20-year dictatorship of the Marcos’ late strongman-father.

“Kingmaker” revealed First Lady Liza Marcos-Araneta taking a strong hand in the appointments of favored people to revenue-generating government offices.

In the book, Rodriguez also shattered allegations that he got monetary favors in exchange for appointments and that he was an overstaying and unwanted Little President.

He brought up documents showing that Marcos offered him the post of chief of staff, which he did not accept.
